Psychometric Properties of the Serbian Smartphone Application-Based Addiction Scale (SABAS) and Validation of the English Version Among Non-native English Speakers

Abstract The present study evaluated the psychometric properties of Serbian Smartphone Application-Based Addiction Scale (SABAS) and original English version same scale administered to a Serbian-speaking sample. In Study 1, 599 participants completed SABAS, with 189 having both test retest data. Results suggested good internal consistency ( α = .81) test–retest reliability ICC .795, p < .001, 95% CI [.731, .844], r test-retest .803) scale. Convergent validity SABAS was through correlations Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV), as well anxiety, depression, worry, duration, purpose smartphone use. Divergent comparing entertainment productive modified CFA model showed an acceptable fit χ 2 (8) 25.53, CFI .961, TLI .926, RMSEA .096, SRMR .042), confirming unidimensionality SABAS. second study, by 335 non-native speakers from Serbia, also single-factor (9) 12.56, .184, .990, .984, .036, 0.026), features. Based on study’s findings, is reliable valid measure for screening risk addiction. Moreover, can be used among speakers.
